International Symposium on The Legal Construction on Harmonious Labor Relations Held Successfully

On November 27th, 2014, International Symposium on “The Legal Construction on Harmonious Labor Relations” was held successfully in Conference Room, Koguan Building of Peking University Law School. The symposium was hosted by PKU Institute of Labor Law and Social Security Act and Professor Jia Junling’s National Fund of Social Sciences, co-organized by University of Helsinki Faculty of Law.


The Symposium was joined by distinguished guests including Zheng Gongcheng, Member of National People's Congress also Professor of Renmin University of China, Guo Jun, Minister of Law Department of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Rui Lixin, Deputy Director of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of PRC, who also deliver welcome speeches during the opening ceremony. Scholars specialized in Labor Law come from International Labour Organization, Finland, the United States, Japan, Israel, and Chinese institutions including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Anhui University, Shenzhen University, Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing Foreign Studies University, China Institute of Industrial Relations, China Youth University of Political Studies.

 

Over fifty representatives from King & Wood Mallesons and TransAsia Lawyers also participated the meeting.

The Opening Ceremony started at 9:00 am, Professor Ye Jingyi from Peking University Law School host the meeting, introducing basic information and main purpose about this major project.

 

Then Professor Zhang Shouwen, Dean of Peking University Law School acknowledged for supporting parties. After that, Tim De Meyer, Head of International Labour Organization, Beijing Branch pointed out the serious problems in Chinese labor relationships. Next, Professor KimmoNuotio, Dean of University of Helsinki Faculty of Law shared successful experience in North Europe. Lastly, Professor Zheng Gongcheng, Guo Jun and Rui Lixin remarked highly on the magnificence of the project, hoping it can bring radical change to laborers’ protection in China.

 

After a whole day’s fruitful discussion, the closing ceremony began at 4:00 pm, Professor Jia Junling from Peking Univeristy Law School, who is in charge of the Professor Jia Junling’s National Fund of Social Sciences reviewed the history and development of the project, and wished that bigger progress would be accomplished later.

 

Closed successfully at 4:50 pm, the International Symposium on The Legal Construction on Harmonious Labor Relations has collected wisdom and strength from experts in a worldwide scope, making great contribution to the legislation process on Labor Law.
