Peking University Law School and Columbia Law School Shale Gas in the U.S. & China Held Successfully

On January 8th 2013, Sponsored by the Peking University Law School, Columbia University Law School, Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University, Peking University Center for Resources, Energy and Environmental Law and Peking University Law and Development Institute, "Shale Gas in The U.S. and China" was held successfully in the Hall of Koguan Building, PKU Law School. As the first important cooperation between two law schools since the foundation of Research Center of Peking University Law School - Columbia Law School, the seminar opened the curtain of Peking University Law School 110 Anniversary Series of activities .

More than eighty Chinese and foreign guests from the State Council Development Research Center, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the National Energy Board, the International Energy Agency, the Columbia University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Normal University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Foreign Economic and Trade University, China University of Petroleum, Beijing Institute of Technology, China Energy Law Research Association, the Beijing Arbitration Commission, CIC, CNPC, Sinopec Group, CNOOC, State Grid Energy Research Institute, China Energy Fund, China Energy Network, USA Cloth Lukins Society, CATf, World Resources Institute, America Natural Resources Defense Council, Vincent Ayers, Law Firm Sidley Austin, Wood Mackenzie and so on participated the the seminar.

The meeting took a deep look into the study and problems in developing shale gas between China and the US ,which was of great significance not only to policy research, but also to provide valuable experience for the development of shale gas, and suggestions to the development of the world shale gas. In the future, taken the joint research center of Peking University Law School and Columbia University Law School as the platform, the two law schools will develop further close cooperation, continuing to focus on the legal issues in international perspective to promote high-end communication and dialogue.
