William M. Treanor, Dean of Georgetown Law, visited Peking University Law School

On the morning of November 8, 2018, Professor William M. Treanor, Dean of Georgetown Law, and Professor Tom Kellogg, Executive Director of the Asian Law Center of Georgetown University, visited Peking University Law School. Guo Li, Deputy Dean of Peking University Law School, and Li Yuanyuan, Assistant Dean and Director of External Affairs Office, warmly received the visitors.
On behalf of Peking University Law School, Deputy Dean Guo Li sincerely greeted and welcomed the guests, and thanked Dean William M. Treanor for his long-term support to Peking University Law School and awarded him a global teacher appointment letter. Dean William M. Treanor thanked Deputy Dean Guo Li for his warm reception and said that he was well honored to be a member of the global teaching staff of Peking University Law School. He would try his best to fulfill the duties of a Peking University Law School teacher and arrange time to teach at Peking University Law School every year, contributing to the development of teaching and research at Peking University Law School.
Subsequently, the two sides discussed the possibility of deepening cooperation in the areas of teacher academic exchanges and student exchanges. Dean William M. Treanor said that Georgetown Law had established a cooperative relationship with the relevant research centers of Peking University Law School. It was hoped that in the future, academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation will be enhanced through joint research or academic conferences. Deputy Dean Guo Li suggested referring to the “Peking-Stanford-Oxford Internet Law and Public Policy Seminar” model and conducting regular academic exchange meetings. The theme of the meeting could be combined with the research areas of mutual concern. Now Georgetown Law has increased its research and teaching in the fields of law and technology, and hopes that the two sides will cooperate in this field in the future.
In terms of student exchanges, Deputy Dean Guo Li hoped that Georgetown Law could help Peking University Law School students in the United States to obtain internship opportunities, so that students of Peking University could gain more practical experience. Dean William M. Treanor stated that the Georgetown Law was willing to help Peking University Law School students in internship opportunities and scholarships. He hoped more Peking University law students would choose to study for a graduate degree at Georgetown Law.
