The Macau Alumni Association of Law School successfully held The " First Inauguration Ceremony of the Board of Supervisors and the Constitutional Basic Law Lecture "

On the morning of July 22, the Macao Alumni Association of Peking University Law School held the “First Inauguration Ceremony of the Board of Supervisors and the Constitutional Basic Law Lecture” at the Marriott Hotel in Macau. Chen Haifan, Director of the Administrative and Legal Affairs Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Zhang Rongshun, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Wang Dong, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao, Liang Weite, Economic and Financial Secretary of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Huang Shaoze, Macau Special Administrative Region Secretary of the Security Department, Huang Xianhui, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, member of the Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Chairman of the Macao Lawyers Association, Wu Zhiliang, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Macao Foundation, Ma Zhida, President of the Peking University Macao Alumni Association, Liu Gaolong, The honorary retired professor of Macau University Law and other guests attended the event. Professor Zhang Shouwen, President of the Peking University Law School Alumni Association, led a delegation to participate in the event. Nearly forty alumni of the Peking University Law School Macau Alumni Association participated in the event. More than 20 representatives from the Peking University Macao Alumni Association and the Law Alumni Association in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao attended the ceremony. In addition, about 60 people from relevant social groups in Macao attended the lecture.

First of all, the oath was sworn by Fang Quan, chairman of the Macao Alumni Association of Peking University Law School, and Professor Zhang Shouwen supervised the oath. Jiang Chaoyang, president of the Macao Alumni Association of Peking University Law School, Huang Shaoze, alumnus representative, and Zhang Shouwen, president of Peking University Law School alumnus Association, delivered speeches.

 

 

President Jiang Chaoyang expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the leaders, guests and alumni. He said that the Macao Alumni Association of Peking University Law School will not disrespect the mission, to make a bridge between the alumni of Macao and the alma mater, to provide communication opportunities and an exchange platform for alumni, and unite the power of Peking University legal person in Macao.

 

 

In his speech, Huang Shaoze alumnus said that Peking University was an eternal and proud spiritual home for graduates. It was a source of strength for Peking University to go to the society and make a strong commitment to the development and progress of society. The establishment of Peking University Law School Macau Alumni Association was the long-term wishes of law school alumni in Australia. Huang Shaoze alumni represented the Macau alumni to thank Peking University Law School for their support and active promotion of the establishment of the Macao Alumni Association, and thanked the members of the Board of Supervisors for their efforts to establish and operate the Macao Alumni Association in such a short period of time.

 

 

In his speech, Professor Zhang Shouwen thanked the alumni of Australia for their support for the development of Peking University Law School. He pointed out that the establishment of the Macao Alumni Association had condensed the efforts of many alumni and teachers and students in Macao, and would become a new platform to unite and cohesive the alumni in Macao. He hoped that Macao alumni would make full use of this platform, to gather together and develop continuously. At the same time, he also called on alumni to care about the development of the college. The college would also fully support the work of the Macao Alumni Association and let the spirit of Peking University pass on from generation to generation.

 

 

After the swearing-in ceremony, Rao Geping, a professor of Peking University Law School, who also was a member of the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, gave a lecture entitled "Development of the Thought of One Country, Two Systems: From Deng Xiaoping to Xi Jinping". Subsequently, Chen Duanhong, a professor of Peking University Law School and a member of the Macao Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, gave a lecture on the topic of “The Sacrament of Power: The Meaning of the Constitutional Oath”.

 

 

The charter of the Macao Alumni Association of Peking University Law School was published in the Macao Special Administrative Region Gazette on May 9, 2018. The purpose of the association is to promote exchanges between Peking University Law Schools among Macao alumni, promote the connection between Peking University Law School and Macao alumni, promote the spirit of love for country and Macao, to develop the Peking University Law School, and promote the legal system construction of the Macao SAR and to promote its prosperous and stable economics, and contributes to inter-regional legal exchanges and cooperation, especially to contribute to the legal system construction and development of The China Great Bay Area. The founding president of the association is Mr. Liu Gaolong, the current president is Mr. Jiang Chaoyang, the chairman is Ms. Fang Quan, the chairman of the board of supervisors is Mr. Li Hanlin, the secretary general is Mr. Peng Yunpeng, and Mr. Liao Zeyun, Ms. Cao Qizhen, Mr. Cui Shichang, Mr. Chen Mingjin are the honorary presidents, Mr. Ma Zhida serves as a consultant.
