Michael Waterstone, Dean of the University of Loyola Marymount University School of Law visited Peking University School of Law

On the afternoon of March 7, 2018, Prof. Michael Waterstone, Dean of the University of Loyola Marymount University Law School, and A.P. Aaron Ghirardelli, LL.M. and JD Program Director of the University of Loyola Marymount School of Law, visited PKULS. Prof. Zhang Shouwen, Dean of the PKULS, Assistant Dean Yang Ming, Assistant to the Dean, and Assistant to the Director of the External Affairs Office, Li Yuanyuan, attended the meeting.

Dean Zhang Shouwen first expressed sincere greetings and welcomes to visiting guests on behalf of PKULS. He said that PKULS has long been associated with Loyola Marymount University School of Law. We have organized academic conferences together with satisfactory results. On October 20th last year, A.P. Aaron Ghirardelli, LL.M. and JD Program Director of the University of Loyola Marymount School of Law attended The First Student Overseas Study of PKULS and the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Exchange Education Exhibition, which means that both parties have established a closer cooperation relationship.

Dean Michael Waterstone thanked Dean Zhang Shouwen for his hospitality. He stated that Loyola University of Maryleon Law School attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchanges with the PKULS. Both sides have jointly organized the Advanced Seminar on Sino-U.S. Intellectual Property Entertainment Law and The Sino-U.S. Entertainment Law Summit Forum. It is hoped that the visit can promote both parties to continue deepen cooperation projects on the basis of previous good cooperation. Dean Michael Waterstone gave a brief introduction to the newly established Master of Media Law program at Loyola Marymount University School of Law. Besides of the course, the project also plans to arrange for students to intern in famous media and film companies. He sincerely welcomed students from PKULS to become a member of the Master of Law in Media Law. At the same time, the president of Waterstone hoped to implement the project of mutual teachers visiting.

In this regard, Dean Zhang Shouwen expressed his strong support. He looked forward to closer cooperation with the law school of Loyola Marymount University in the future, and pointed out that international exchanges and cooperation can foster more high-quality, global-minded legal professionals. As long as international law schools strengthen exchanges and cooperation and do a solid job of talent training, law education will flourish.
