Christopher Stephens, General Counsel of the Asian Development Bank,Visited Peking University Law School

On the morning of 19 October, Christopher Stephens, General Counsel of the Asian Development Bank, visited Peking University Law School. Dean of  Peking University Law School Zhang Shouwen, Deputy Dean Guo Li, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Lu Jiangnan, Director of the Employment Guidance Office Hou Le, Deputy Director Guo Xingzhi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office Yao Yueming warmly recieved the guests.

First, Mr. Christopher Stephens came to the Courtyard and had a meet with Zhang. On behalf of Peking University Law School, Zhang extended his sincere greetings and welcome to the visiting guests and introduced the development history and cooperation of PKULS. Christopher Stephens expressed the hope that Peking University Law School would provide more abundant talents for the Asian Development Bank, and he welcomed the young academics and outstanding students from PKULS to have internships in the legal department of ADB. Deputy Dean Guo Li, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Lu Jiangnan expressed a warm welcome to Christopher Stephens, and expressed the hope that both sides would benefit from the next communication.

 

 

 

Then, Mr. Christopher Stephens moved to King & Wood Law Student Club, Leo KoGuan Building, and participated in talents salon with Deputy Dean of PKULS Guo Li, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Lu Jiangnan, Deputy Director of PKU Employment Guidance Center You Yuchuan, Associate Professor of Law School Joseph L. Pratt and student representatives. At the beginning, Mr. Christopher Stephens gave a lecture on the theme of "Sharing of International Organization Practice". Then, in Q&A Section, Mr. Christopher Stephens pushed the event to the climax with a rigorous and yet funny answers.

 

 

Finally, You and Prof. Pratt presented Mr. Christopher Stephens with the exchange status in international organizations of PKULS and expressed warm welcome and heartfelt wishes for his visit.

 

 

The visit has established a broad communicating bridge between the teachers and students of PKULS and the legal practitioners of international organizations, furtherly strengthened the exchanges and cooperation between PKULS and ADB and provided both sides a opportunity for further visits and collaboration. At the same time, it also greatly enhanced PKULS’s influence and competitiveness in international legal practice so that PKULS can struggle for global legalization.
