PKULS Participated in the Second Asian Environmental Law Leading Character Round Table Conference

The Second Asian Environmental Law Leading Character Round Table Conference took place in Cebu, Philippines between 29th May and 30th May 2017. Professor Wang Jin led Chinese University Faculty Group engaged in the relative activities. The second Round Table Conference aimed at calling the participators of the first Asian Environmental Law Leading Character Round Table Conference which took place in 2015 and the trainers and trainees of the first and the second Regional Capacity Development Technical Assistance-Strengthening Capacity for Environmental Law in the Asia-Pacific: Developing Environmental Law Leading Characters-Training the Trainers Program (TTT Program) which took place in 2015 and 2016. The second Round Table Conference reviewed the achievements of TTT programs, shared the experience in teaching environmental law, looked ahead the establishment of environmental law teaching network in Asia-Pacific.


 

The Second Round Table Conference was jointly hosted by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and International Union for Conservation of Nature Academy of Environmental Law(IUCNAEL). Assistant general consultant of ADB Mr. John Versantvoot and Program Negotiator Professor Rob Fowler delivered their speeches respectively. 17th October to 21st October 2016 last year, a training program named Chinese Higer Education Law School Environmental Law Tutors Training Program, sponsored by ADB and hosted jointly by PKULS and IUCNAEL, was hosted in PKULS. Professor Song Ying presented a keynote report about the assessment of TTT program, assessing the practice of the trainees who participated in the training program.

During the Conference, representatives of Chinese University Environmental Law Faculty Group engaged in the discussions of climate change, the cutting edge development in environmental law, litigation and governance of environmental law, international and regional environmental law, teaching method of environmental law and etc, communicating with over 70 tutors and scholars from 14 countries in the field of environmental law. Representative of the training program PKU Doctor Zhang Yuling further conducted group report.

Professor Wang Jin further discussed the future of TTT program in China with leaders of ADB and IUCNAEL as well as encouraging the trainees of the training programs this year to apply the teaching method they have learned to their teaching practice in order to improve their teaching skills and levels.
