Success in International Talents Cultivation of Law School

Since Peking University joined the “Extraordinary talents Program” launched by the Ministry of Education of PRC and Central Politics and Law Commission of the CPC in 2011, Law School of PKU has dedicated to cultivate international legal elites.

 

So far, Law School has established cooperative relationship with 72 excellent universities and institutions around the world. Every year, nearly 150 students by participating international programs provided by Law School and Peking University. Including exchange programs, degree programs, summer school, international moot court competitions and international internships, these international exchange programs sent students to North America, Europe, Australia and Asian Areas like Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, providing all kinds of scholarships to ease their burden at the same time.

 

To further develop the international exchange programs, departments from Law School together worked out a set of optimized policies concerning student selection, credit requirement, curriculum offset, credit evaluation and recommended admission exempt from exams, facilitating students to join the program without trouble.

 

While sending students to the world, Law School also recruited teachers and students from the world. Inviting renowned scholars and experts in actual legal practice every semester, Law School was enabled to open international courses like “Global & Comparative Law”. Participation of World-Class Guest Professors in lecturing, communicating and scientific researching has enriched the content of International Talents Cultivation Program of Law School.

 

Surrounded by a day-by-day improving environment, students from Law School is developing increasing consent towards international education. In recent LSAT test, most candidates from Law School scored great: Gao Wenwa (Scored 180/180), Chen Boli (Scored 174/180), Yang Le(Scored 173/180), Xiao Yimeng(Scored 172/180), Zhang Haoyang(Scored 172/180) and Du Chun(Scored 171/180) are all 2011-undergraduates, reflecting the effectiveness of the International Talents Cultivation Program.

 

Internationalization is and always will be a major goal of Law School. Having achieved certain success in international communication and cooperation, Law School is definite to accomplish more with support of our faculty and students.
