The Law Society of Hong Kong's C. M. CHAN and his delegation visit Peking University Law School

On the morning of April 19, 2024, C. M. CHAN, President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, led a delegation to visit Peking University Law School. Guo Li, Dean and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School, Dai Xin, Vice Dean of the Law School, Chen Duanhong, Professor of the Law School and member of the Macao Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Wang Huawei, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Li Yuanyuan, Assistant Dean and Director of External Affairs Office, met with the delegation and exchanged discussions on topics such as the cross-border legal service and risk management course and lawyer training, which have been long-term cooperation between the two sides.
On behalf of Peking University Law School, Dean Guo Li warmly welcomed Mr C. M. CHAN, President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, and his delegation.. He introduced the recent development of teaching programs, faculty, international exchanges, and other aspects at Peking University Law School. He also stated that courses such as “Cross border Legal Services and Risk Management” have greatly benefited the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents, and he looks forward to further cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in more fields and at a deeper level in the future.
President C. M. CHAN thanked Peking University Law School for its warm reception and introduced the current situation of the Law Society of Hong Kong as well as the original intention of offering the course “Cross border Legal Services and Risk Management”. As the first batch of in-service doctoral students recruited by Peking University after the return of Hong Kong, he believes that the long-term development of Hong Kong cannot be separated from extensive exchanges with the mainland. He looks forward to further deepening exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the future.
Subsequently, the members of the visiting delegation participated in the teaching of the course “Cross border Legal Services and Risk Management” and exchanged thoughts and suggestions on future cooperation. They hoped to promote the learning of common law among mainland students through this course, and also looked forward to more students joining this course in the future, laying a foundation for their study and practice in the field of common law.
