The research team led by Prof. Yi Jiming, Director of the Research Center of International Intellectual Property of Peking University, undertook the 2017 special entrusted project of the Inter ministerial Joint Conference Office for the Implementation of the Intellectual Property Strategy of the State Council, Research on the protected mode of Geographical Indications. The special achievement was highly praised by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, and had a positive impact on the protection of geographical indications of the Intellectual Property Protection Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

In December 2022, Prof. Yi Jiming's research team wrote the think-tank achievement "On the protected mode of Geographical Indications Achievements in China" (Yi Jiming, Qin Yang), which was selected into the "Promotion List of the Special Award for Outstanding Achievements of Think Tanks in 2022".

On the protected mode of Geographical Indications in China focuses on the current situation and development trend of geographical indication protection at home and abroad, analyzes the U.S. trademark law mode and the EU specific protected mode, and puts forward the third protected mode for China to formulate a separate and unified "Geographical Indications Law". At the same time, the advisory opinions and suggestions formed in the research report were adopted by policy documents such as the Outline of Building a Powerful Intellectual Property Country (2021-2035) and the 14th Five Year Plan for National Intellectual Property Protection and Application, and promoted the transformation of the geographical indication management system from the original industrial and commercial departments, quality supervision departments and agricultural departments to the "centralized management" of the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

In addition, Prof. Yi Jiming's research achievement "Analysis of the International Situation of Intellectual Property in the Context of Sino US Relations in the Post pandemic Era" was selected as the highest award "Annual Excellent Achievement Award" in the "2020 China Think Tank Index CTTI Source Think Tank Annual Achievement Collection".
