On July 26, 2022, a special visit and research activity sponsored by the Institute of Labor Law and Social Security Law of Peking University was held at the Beijing headquarters of Meituan. The research team was led by Ye Jingyi, Prof. of PKULS and the director of the Institute of Labor Law and Social Security Law. The members included Yan Tian, an assistant professor, and several doctoral and postgraduate students in related majors. The research team had in-depth exchanged opinions and discussed with the practical experts of Meituan on the protection of the labor rights and interests of delivery persons.

At the beginning of this activity, the staff led teachers and students of PKULS to visit the Comprehensive Command Center of Meituan.

After the visit, participants and practical experts of Meituandaojia's affairs department, the public affairs department, and the legal department conducted an in-depth discussion on the "new progress and new situation of the protection of the labor rights and interests of delivery persons".

Professor Ye Jingyi pointed out that in order to implement theoretical research, social law scholars needed to obtain first-hand information on how platform enterprises operate, and explore better answers to the protection of workers' rights and interests in new forms of employment from practice. The practical experts of Meituan introduced the basic situation of the protection of labor rights and interests of Meituan delivery persons. Subsequently, Meituan communicated with teachers and students of PKULS in the form of interactive questions.

At the end of the activity, Prof. Ye Jingyi expressed her sincere thanks for the warm reception of the Beijing headquarter of Meituan. The visit was a complete success, which not only deepened the understanding of the status of the protection of the rights and interests of platform workers, but also provided new ideas for academic research.
