On the afternoon of January 7, 2022, in the warm sun of winter, the 2021 "Peking University-Jones Day China Globalization and Legal Talent Training Program" and "Cross-Border Legal Lawyer Practice Course" graduation ceremony was grandly held. For the sake of epidemic prevention and control, the event was held simultaneously online and offline. Attorney Tang Chenghui, Managing Partner in Charge of the Beijing Office of Jones Day Law Firm; Partner Xue Qiang; Senior Consultants Fan Fangran; Attorney Zhu Mimi; Attorney Wu Yichen; Attorney Sheng Jiahui; Administrative Director Ms. Jiang Fan; Professor Guo Li, Party Secretary of Peking University Law School; Dr. Li Yuanyuan, Assistant to the Dean and Director of the Office of External Affairs, attended the graduation ceremony together with more than 30 on-site and more than 80 online participating students from colleges and universities across the country.

The 2021 “Peking University-Jones Day China Globalization and Legal Talent Training Program” started from the “Cross-Border Legal Lawyer Practice Course” jointly offered by Peking University Law School and Jones Day Law Firm in 2018. Affected by the epidemic, the course will be transferred in 2020 for online. In 2021, the course will be upgraded to the “China Globalization and Rule of Law Talent Training Program” with a more three-dimensional selection, participation and training method nationwide. In the end, a total of 46 students from 24 law schools and 67 students from Peking University Law School participated.

1. Sow youth and build the future together - Attorney Tang Chenghui, Managing Partner of Jones Day Law Firm's Beijing Office, delivered a speech

As one of the main promoters of the program, Attorney Tang Chenghui expressed his sincere congratulations to the 113 graduates of the first batch of "Peking University-Jones Day China Globalization and Legal Talent Training Program" who were present and online. Thanks to the leadership and teachers of Peking University Law School for their support. She said that China is now at an important stage of needing a large number of high-quality foreign-related legal practice talents, and Jones Day is delighted to contribute to the cultivation of foreign-related legal practice reserve talents in China.

2. A spark that ignites dreams—Professor Guo Li, Party Secretary of Peking University Law School, delivered a speech

Professor Guo Li said that Peking University Law School and Jones Day Law Firm have come together because of like-mindedness, and have been working together for many years for a common goal—promoting China’s globalization and cultivating legal talents. From 21 Peking University students in the "Cross-Border Legal Lawyers Practice Course" in 2018 to 113 students from 25 universities across the country in 2021, the "Peking University-Jones Day China Globalization and Legal Talent Training Program" has experienced four years of development with continuous polishing. It is hoped that the program can form an echelon for cultivating foreign-related legal talents, and contribute to China's role in the process of globalization of the rule of law.

Professor Guo Li also expressed his sincere gratitude to the colleagues of Jones Day for their efforts in the program. It was their careful preparation and hard work that made this talent training program a complete success.

3. Accumulate a lot and live up to the youth - a speech by a student representative

Chen Yuexin, a 2019 undergraduate student from Peking University Law School, and Cai Zhiyuan, a 2020 Master of Laws from Wuhan University Law School delivered speeches respectively, expressing their gratitude for this course and their firm determination to engage in foreign-related lawyers in the future.

4. Shining stars, shining brightly--announced "excellent students" and issued "certificates of completion"

Attorney Tang Chenghui and Professor Guo Li issued certificates of completion to the first batch of 12 "outstanding students" of the "Peking University-Jones Day China Globalization and Rule of Law Talent Training Program". They also presented certificates of completion to more than 30 students present and took a group photo , send the certificate of completion by post to other participating students.

In the round table exchange meeting, several Jones Day partners and lawyers shared many insights and experiences of working in Jones Day and engaging in cross-border business, and the students were also interested in legal studies, career development plans and related development prospects.
