Peter J. Wang: U.S. Antitrust Litigation – Chinese Companies & Other Non-US Companies

On November 12, 2021, Peter J. Wang, Global Chair in Peking University Law School, head of the China Antitrust Services group of Trumpster LLP and partner in its Hong Kong office, delivered an online academic lecture on "U.S. Antitrust Litigation involving Chinese Companies and Other Non-US Companies."The lecture was delivered by Chen Ruoying, Associate Professor of Peking University Law School, with Hou Liyang, Professor of Law, Kaiyuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the lecture assessor. More than one hundred teachers and students from inside and outside Peking University attended the lecture and actively interacted with each other and responded warmly. 

 

 

Peter J. Wang addresses five topics of discussion: (1) background; (2) how non-U.S. firms can become involved in U.S. antitrust litigation; (3) some examples involving Chinese and other non-U.S. firms; (4) key issues of the U.S. antitrust process; and (5) the extraterritorial application of U.S. antitrust law. After the briefings, teachers and students engaged in interactive communication.

Introduction of the Lecturer:

Peter J. Wang was the partner in-charge of Greater China and co-head of Jonda's international litigation & arbitration practice. Ms. Wang has acted for clients in significant antitrust investigations by the U.S. and other governments into contemplated M&A transactions as well as in non-M&A antitrust investigations and litigation. Ms. Wang has also handled non-M&A antitrust investigations and litigation. Ms. Wang has represented clients in China and around the world on complex commercial dispute litigation, as well as patent and other technology and intellectual property litigation. Ms. Wang is frequently involved in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA") and other types of internal corporate investigations, and advises clients on compliance and due diligence matters. Ms. Wang joined Jonda in 1991 and practiced litigation and antitrust work in Jonda's Washington office until joining the China office in 2003.
