December 4th, 2021 is the eighth National Constitution Day of PRC. And November 29th to December 5th is the fourth "Constitution Publicity Week". In order to in-depth study Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the rule of law, and to implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of CPC, PKULS meticulously organized and vividly carried out a series of law popularization activities during the Constitution Publicity Week.

On November 28th, in order to welcome the arrival of "Constitution Publicity Week" and the National Constitution Day, PKULS held a special lecture on "Information Privacy and Social Norms", inviting Associate Professor Dai Xin as the Presenter, attracting nearly 3,000 audiences both inside and outside the school through online live broadcast. With the information privacy system as the core and the theoretical dimension of social norms, Dai Xin conducted in-depth discussions on privacy and personal information protection, popularized legal knowledge to the audience and promoted the spirit of the rule of law.

At noon on December 3rd, under the guidance of the Peking University Legal Affairs Office and the Peking University Law Education and Research Center for College Students, the Law publicity event organized by the Peking University Legal Aid Association was successfully held in the triangle north field of the Sun Student Center. Law popularization volunteers distributed well-compiled law popularization brochures and constitutional knowledge handbooks to teachers and students, and focused on explaining the legal knowledge close to life in the constitution and the civil code. In response to the legal service needs of teachers and students in the campus, volunteers with rich practical experience and professional knowledge also set up a legal consultation office answer legal questions for teachers and students and guide teachers and students to protect their legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law. After the event, the volunteers also organized a legal film viewing salon to popularize legal knowledge and spread the spirit of the rule of law to teachers and students in a way that would be appreciated.

On the afternoon of December 3rd, with the support and assistance of the 23rd Postgraduate Teaching Group of Peking University, a law education lecture for more than 800 teachers and students of Anxin Middle School in Hebei Province was successfully held. The volunteers closely combined the study and education of party history and the study and implementation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, focusing on the Constitution, the Civil Code and other important laws, and expounding the obscure legal knowledge in a concise and easy-to-understand manner. Enhance the legal awareness of local teachers and students and improve the effect of legal education.

In addition to legal education on campus, PKULS also explores new ways of popularizing the law, guiding young people to carry out grass-roots law popularization to the front line of the community. In order to implement the requirements for epidemic prevention protocol, PKULS focused on the actual needs of community residents, recording the Constitution and anti-fraud law promotion videos, and broadcast them to residents of various communities in Yanyuan Street. The law popularization video was introduced by street justice offices and community staff, making the law popularization under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control still achieved good results as normal. Community residents have praised the creativity of the law popularization volunteers, and said that they will actively learn relevant legal knowledge and learn to use legal weapons to protect their legitimate rights and interests.

In addition to offline activities, PKULS continued to popularize constitutional knowledge to the whole school's teachers, students and the general public through its WeChat public account during the Constitution Publicity Week, and promote the network dissemination of the spirit of the constitution. PKULS also actively innovated ways to guide teachers and students to understand the constitution more deeply, firmly believe in the constitution, and consciously use the constitution.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized: “The authority of the Constitution and the law comes from the people’s inner support and sincere belief. Strengthening the study, publicity and education of the Constitution is an important basis for the implementation of the Constitution.” For a long time, PKULS has insisted on giving full play to its professional expertise and innovating to carry out voluntary services for law popularization. In the future, young lawyers at Peking University will continue to follow Xi Jinping’s rule of law thoughts as guidance, fully implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, and make greater contributions to law popularization and legal aid to the comprehensive rule of law!
