Faculty and students of PKULS study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important reply letter to international students from Peking University

On June 21, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping wrote back to the international students from Peking University, encouraging them to learn more about China, introduce their ideas and experiences to more people.

 

In the afternoon of June 30, PKULS held a seminar on the development and exchange of international students to learn more about the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important reply letter. Guo Li, Secretary of the Party Committee, Lu Jiangnan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Yuanyuan, Assistant Dean and Director of Foreign Affairs Office, Fu Chengyu, Director of Career Development Office, Li Wanyu, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Li Chaofu, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, and more than ten representatives of international students and Chinese students of various categories attended the seminar together. The seminar was hosted by Shi Shi, Assistant Dean and Director of Student Affairs Office.

 

 

Firstly, teachers and students collectively watched the video report of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply to the international students from Peking University and reviewed the contents of the letter together.

 

After that, Su Wen, a Cambodian Ph.D. student from the National Development Institute, shared the heartfelt journey and insights of 45 international students from Peking University who wrote letters together. He said that he had deeply felt the development and changes of China during his 13 years living in China, and the international students of Peking University wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate the Communist Party of China on its centennial birthday. In the letter, they talked about the historical connection between Peking University and the CPC, the struggle and hard work of the CPC to fight against the epidemic during the epidemic, and the great achievements in fighting poverty over the years. After receiving the reply letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping, the students were very excited and said they would bring this valuable experience back to their own countries, spread the Chinese story and make their own contribution to the contact between people from different countries.

 

 

Afterwards, the participating teachers and students shared their experience of learning the spirit of the important reply letter from General Secretary Xi to the international students from Peking University. 2019 Chinese LL.M. and British international student Lin Yuyan expressed her heartfelt admiration for the CPC coming from the people, rooted in the people and for the people in the light of what she saw and thought during the epidemic; 2019 undergraduate student and Venezuelan international student Cao Aiyu expressed her hope and goal of learning more about Chinese history and culture.  Yang Koning, Cui Zhihao, Chen Xinyi, Tang Chenxue and Shan Baowei, shared their insights on serving and uniting international students and telling Chinese stories together with international students from different countries from different perspectives, such as student cadre organization, grass-roots party branch, student social practice and class group construction. They shared their insights of serving international students, uniting international students and telling Chinese stories with international students.

 

 

Li Yuanyuan introduced the all-round platform provided by the School for the development and growth of international students in terms of "bringing in" and "going out", taking into account the international cooperation and exchange situation and international students' cultivation initiatives. She hoped that the students would make full use of the excellent resources of the college, go to the grassroots society in China, and discover the real China with what they can and what they have learned.

 

 

Lu Jiangnan encouraged the students to "step up" and respond to General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest hope by practicing their basic skills in school and introducing the lovely, credible and respectable China to the world with lofty ideals and strong beliefs.

 

 

Finally, Guo Li made a concluding speech. He pointed out that the general secretary's reply to the international students from PKU on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Party was significant and far-reaching, which showed the good expectation of general secretary Xi Jinping for building a community of human destiny. At the same time, Mr. Guo called on students and teachers to cherish the valuable spiritual wealth, to be practical, to work hard, and to contribute strength and wisdom to the people-to-people contact of all countries

 

 

In the future, the Law School will continue to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important letters to Peking University, solidly promote the study and education of Party history, actively implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education, and lead and help Chinese youth and international students from all over the world to tell the Chinese story and spread the Chinese voice.
