On May 24, 2021, the second lecture of The Series of Lectures on Comprehensively Advancing the Rule of Law under the subject of "New Era Forum" co-sponsored by Institute of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, National Legal Strategy Academy, School of Government and Law School was held at Lecturer Hall of Koguan Building of Law School. As a famous jurist, a member of the leading Party group of China Law Society, Prof. Zhang Wenxian was invited to deliver a report under the theme “How to study and interpretate Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law”. Qiu Shuiping, Party Secretary of Peking University, Dean of National Legal Strategy Academy and General Director of Institute of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, attended and addressed. More than 100 people attended the lecture, including heads of the host departments, experts and scholars from RUC, MUC and other universities. The lecture was hosted by Wang Puqu, President of Institute of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

As Qiu Shuiping pointed out in his speech, Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law formed a complete system with rich connotation, profound conception and rigorous logic, scientifically answering a series of fundamental and overall questions about the essential differences between Chinese Rule of Law and that of the West. It created new paradigms and new theories about rule of law that had great practical guiding significance for the construction of the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

Qiu Shuiping stressed that PKU attached great importance to the study, research and dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law. All teachers and students from PKU should actively shoulder their due responsibilities in the study and interpretation of Xi‘s thought, bearing in mind the guiding position and leading role of Xi‘s thought in the construction of the discipline system, academic system and discourse system of law with Chinese characteristics.

Pan Jianfeng, Dean of the Law School, and Yan Jirong, Dean of  School of Government, also delivered welcome speeches to Zhang Wenxian.　

In the following lecture, Zhang Wenxian elaborated the whole developing process of Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law through constant practice, specially emphasized the ingenuity and indispensability of Xi’s thought.

After the lecture, Zhang Wenxian answered questions about “the relationship between Party, the people and the law in the new era”, “what are the Chinese characteristics of Chinese governance based on law”.
