Peking University Social Law Forum Lecture 65, "The Impact of International Labor Standards on the Construction of China's Labor and Social Security Legal System" was Successfully Held

On March 16th, 2021, PKU Social Law Forum lecture series 65, "The Impact of International Labor Standards on the Construction of China's Labor and Social Security Legal System", organized by the Institute of Labor Law and Social Security Law of PKU, was successfully held. The lecture was presided over by Prof. Ye Jingyi, director of the Institute of Labor Law and Social Security Law of PKU, and lectured by Prof. Lin Yanling, Prof. of China University of Labor Relations. This lecture is a part of the “Special Topics on Labor Law and Social Security Law” of the Graduate School of Law in the spring semester of 2021. In addition to classmates, students from other majors also attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Lin Yanling reviewed the research process of international labor law in the past 20 years and communicated with the students on the basic issues such as the concept, function and status of international labor law. She pointed out that International Labor Law plays a key role in the protection of international labor rights and interests, and also provide important guidance and reference for China to study and solve many problems in labor and social fields. As a member of the ILO, China should strengthen the study of international labor law.

Subsequently, Lin Yanling elaborated on the historical contribution of the ILO in its centenary development. She stressed that the ILO was founded on humanitarian grounds and to promote world peace and provide a good competitive environment. The ILO proposed decent work in the context of economic globalization, responding to the universal needs of workers in all countries.

In the section of "Influence of International Labor Standards on China's Legal Construction of Labor and Social Security", Lin Yanling pointed out that China joined the ILO in 1920 and was one of the first member countries. The international labor standard also plays an important role in the construction of the labor social security law in China.

Ye Jingyi made comments on this special lecture on international labor standards. She thanked Lin Yanling teacher combined with her own academic experience to share with students the international research results and the latest research achievements in the field of labor law, pointed out the international labor standards important impact on the domestic research on labor and social security, and hoped that the students have comprehensive view of the related system.

Finally, the students took a photo with Lin Yanling and had an interaction. Through this lecture, students' understanding of international labor law has been further deepened, intuitively felt the close relationship between the international labor law system and the domestic labor law, and gained a lot.
