On November 3, 2020, the International Law Party Branch of Peking University Law School held a party branch meeting in Room 314, Koguan Building. Vice Party Secretary Piao Wendan attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Zhang Zhiyong.

Firstly, Vice Party Secretary Piao Wendan introduced the requirements of the school and university for the building of Party branches. It is praised that the Party branch of international law has flexibly carried out various learning activities according to the actual situations, and has played a very good role in Party building, under the special circumstances of this year's epidemic situation. It is hoped that the Party branch of international law will seriously study the spirit of the Fifth Plenum of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (hereafter called “the conference”), pay attention to the issues related to social governance in the transitional period, further exert its professional advantages and lead the development of academic research.

Secondly, Prof. Zhang Zhiyong said that the construction of the Party branch depended on the strong leadership of the Law School Party Committee and the strong support of the Party branch members. All Party members overcame difficulties such as the impact of the epidemic, heavy tasks in teaching management and scientific research, and actively participated in the construction of Party branches and collective learning. He hopes that all teachers will actively study and implement the spirit of the conference, especially those related to participation in global governance and educational development.

Thirdly, many teachers had a discussion. 

A.P. Chen Yifeng said that we should focus on the cultivation of students' ideological depth and professional quality, and make full use of the platform of the Institute of International Law to help students engage in scientific research activities and cultivate innovative talents. 

Prof. He Qisheng said that we should further strengthen our forward-looking awareness, take the initiative to undertake major national research tasks, and make contributions to China's effective participation in international legislation and global governance.

A.P. Tang Yingmao said that the discipline of international law has established close cooperation with many famous universities, scientific research institutions and international institutions in China and abroad. We should make good use of the existing platform resources to further influence the world. 

A.P. Liu Dongjin said that the discipline of international law should cultivate international talents, pay attention to the construction of teachers' ethics and conduct, select more teachers with noble morality and innovation, and improve the effectiveness of education. 

A.P. Guo Yu said that we should actively promote the connotative development of international law and do a good job in teaching and scientific research of international law.

Finally, Vice Party Secretary Piao Wendan said that she would continue to provide help and support to actively promote the construction and development of the discipline of international law.

So far, the meeting of the Party branch of international law and the seminar on discipline teaching and research work were successfully concluded.

The Party Committee of Law School attaches great importance to the construction of Party branches and the development of disciplines, and takes a group of excellent Party members and teachers as the principals to promote the construction of talent team and the development of disciplines. We will continue to integrate theory with practice, serve the national strategic needs and talent training needs, and make due contributions to the school construction and national rule of law construction.
