On June 21, The opening ceremony of intellectual property development research institute of Peking University in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area was held at the Conference Center of Guangzhou Science City. Xie Hong, Deputy Director of Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Center, Liang Xiaoping, Director of Intellectual Property Protection Department of Guangzhou Market Supervision and Administration, Huangpu District Director, Chen Yong, Executive Vice-Director of Guangzhou Development Zone Management Committee, Sun Xuewei, Inspector of Guangzhou Development Zone Management Committee, Gunter Marten, Minister Counsellor of European Union Mission to China, Pan Jianfeng, Dean of Peking University Law School, Lu Jiangnan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University Law School, and Zhang Ping, Executive Director of intellectual property development research institute of Peking University in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area attended the event. The unveiling was also attended by the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, the Guangzhou Interpretation and Association Center of the State Intellectual Property Office, the Intellectual Property Research Institute of the Chinese Law Society, the China Patent Agent (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., the Council of the China Association of ASEAN (Macao) Arbitration Association, and well-known persons from universities and enterprises in China. The event was hosted by Lu Xinxin, deputy director of the Alumni Work Office of Peking University Law School. 

 

 

Pan Jianfeng, dean of the law school of Peking University, first thanked guangzhou development zone for its long-term, comprehensive and strategic support and guidance to the intellectual property development research institute of the guangdong-hong kong-macao greater bay area of Peking University. We welcome all people of insight to pay close attention to and support the development and construction of the academy and work together to push the intellectual property cooperation mechanism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area to a new level.

 

 

Chen Yong, director of Huangpu district and executive deputy director of Guangzhou development zone administrative committee, said the work of intellectual property is Huangpu district and Guangzhou development zone an important content of promoting the construction of a large bay area of Guangdong, Huangpu district and Guangzhou development zone will gather the wisdom and resources, actively learn from the advanced experience of trying to build "based on Guangdong, radiation in south China, the national demonstration" of intellectual property rights leading innovation-driven development zone, create the national business environment for regional innovation experimental area.

 

 

Xie Hong, deputy director of Guangdong intellectual property protection center,  highly praised the cooperation between Peking University and Guangzhou development zone in setting up the intellectual property development research institute of Peking University Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area, holding that the project is an important measure for Peking University and Guangzhou development zone to respond to the spirit of the 19th national congress and implement the national strategic call of "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area".

 

 

Gunter Marten, counselor of the European Union delegation to China, said in his speech that the development of business is inseparable from the protection of intellectual property rights. He was very glad to see that China attaches such importance to the development of intellectual property rights. He said he will continue to support Peking University's efforts in intellectual property research.

 

 

Later, leaders and guests jointly unveiled the intellectual property development research institute, and witnessed Zhang ping, executive director of intellectual property development research institute, exchanging the text of intellectual property strategic cooperation agreement with Guangsheng research and development institute, netease game law research center and principals of Guangdong Anzheng computer forensic institute.

 

 

After the ceremony, President Pan Jianfeng and deputy secretary Lu jiangnan jointly issued employment letters for the first batch of expert committee members and researchers appointed by the institute.

 

 

Finally, Liu Chuntian, President of the Intellectual Property Research Association of the Chinese Law Society, Li Mingde, Director of the Intellectual Property Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jin Fu, Vice-Chairman of China Patent Agency (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., Lai Jianguo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of China-ASEAN (Macao) Arbitration, and Hong Mingzhou, Professor of Business Give a speech.

 

 

At the meeting, the Institute of Intellectual Property Rights Development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area of Peking University published research results and three research reports since its establishment in September 2018: Patent Trend Observation Report of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area (2016-2018), Patent Trend Observation Report of Internet Technological Innovation (2019) and Nine City Geography of Wan District. Logo Report (2019). Among them, the Patent Trend Observation Report of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area (2016-2018) mainly combines the overall patent application situation of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area and the patent application situation of various districts and municipalities to analyze the innovative ability, business form distribution and competitive strength of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area from 2016 to 2018. The Patent Trend Observation Report on Internet Technological Innovation (2019) mainly analyses the active areas of Internet enterprises' technological innovation by observing the trend of changes in patent data of Internet enterprises. The report has been published four times since 2014. The Report on Geographic Indications of Nine Cities in Bay Area (2019) is the first important research on comprehensive analysis of the geographical indications of nine cities in Bay Area. It mainly combs and studies the number, frequency, distribution, characteristics and output value of the geographical indications of the nine main cities in Bay Area, aiming at promoting the fine products in Bay Area, strengthening the characteristic industries, etc. Inheritance of traditional culture and other aspects play a decision-making reference role.

 

 

At the end of the event, Cheng Yuyuyu, professor of Chinese Language Department of Peking University, and Zhou Dongfen, professor of calligraphy at Yanjing School of Peking University, also presented the college seal and inscription to the Institute. The unveiling event ended successfully in a warm atmosphere.

 

 

At 14 p.m. on that day, in order to further promote the development and cooperation of intellectual property rights in the Greater bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the Institute of Intellectual Property Rights Development of the Greater bay area of Beijing University also assisted Guangzhou Development Zone in convening the "Trial Promotion Meeting of Intellectual Property Rights Cooperation and Comprehensive Reform of Intellectual Property Rights Application and Protection in the Greater bay area of Guangdong, At the meeting, Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone Expert Advisory Committee on the Comprehensive Reform of Intellectual Property Application and Protection hired Yang Jianbing, a researcher of the Defense Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Equipment Development of the Central Military Commission, Qiu Jiangwen, Vice Director of the Guangdong Center for Patent Examination and Cooperation of the State Intellectual Property Office, and the Intellectual Property Research Society of the Chinese Law Li Mingde, Executive Vice President and former Director of Intellectual Property Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, 8 intellectual property experts, including Taiwan practicing lawyer, part-time tutor of Peking University Law School, and Zhang Yushu, Strategic Director of China Technology Exchange, are members. More than 10 top intellectual property experts and scholars attending the meeting have broad vision and international vision. It also puts forward some forward-looking, strategic and pertinent suggestions for Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone to participate in the construction of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater bay area and to further promote the comprehensive reform of intellectual property rights.           

 

The Institute of Intellectual Property Rights Development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Greater bay area of Peking University is a think tank-type institution established by Peking University and Guangzhou Development Zone in response to the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress and the implementation of the national strategy of "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Greater bay area". The Institute will focus on the School of Law of Peking University and Peking University.
