Date:2026-07-01
On June 11, 2026, PKU Law School and the Hong Kong Bar Association jointly held the final assessment and scholarship ceremony for the "Essentials of Common Law — Public Law" course at the Kaiyuan Building moot courtroom. The course concluded with a moot court exercise based on a landlord-tenant dispute, requiring students to draft pleadings and present oral arguments in English before a panel of eight barristers. Seven students, including Yang Jin, were awarded the 2026 PKU Hong Kong Common Law Internship Scholarship and will undertake a two-week practical placement in Hong Kong. HKBA Chairman Jose Maurellet SC congratulated all participants and highlighted the growing importance of common law expertise in China's cross-border legal development. Party Secretary Tang Jinnan urged students to stay true to their learning journey, deepen their common law knowledge, and contribute to the nation's international rule-of-law capacity. Student representatives shared reflections on how the course sharpened their practical legal thinking and career direction.
