Date:2026-01-14
On May 31, 2025, Peking University Law School held the commencement ceremony for its Common Law Essentials course. The event featured addresses by faculty leaders and guest lecturers, followed by the presentation of course scholarships to outstanding students.

Established in 2011 through collaboration between PKU Law School and the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Common Law Essentials course provides systematic training in common law principles, focusing primarily on Hong Kong's legal system. This spring semester's program, directed by Associate Professor Dai Xin, emphasized both substantive legal knowledge and practical courtroom advocacy skills. Taught by experienced Hong Kong barristers, the course received strong support from central government agencies including the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office.
After a semester of intensive study, the students have demonstrated marked improvement in areas such as English academic expression, legal analysis, and practical legal thinking. Following a comprehensive review of their overall course performance by all instructors, ten students have been awarded the Course Scholarship.
