Decoding the Constitutional Clash Between TikTok and the U.S. Government

On December 8, 2024, Peking University Law School hosted a seminar, "Decoding the Constitutional Clash Between TikTok and the U.S. Government." Moderated by Vice Dean Dai Xin, the event featured presentations by Professor Liu Han of Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Shen Weiwei of China University of Political Science and Law, and Assistant Professor Zuo Yilu of Peking University. Dean Dai opened the seminar with an analysis of the December 6 ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in the TikTok case. Subsequent presentations included Professor Liu’s examination of potential political bias within the U.S. judiciary, Professor Shen’s discussion of the interplay between politics and technology, and Professor Zuo’s focus on the case’s implications for freedom of speech.
