From Law Students to Legal Professionals in International Organizations: A Dialogue with International Organization Officers
On October 24, 2024, Mr. Gerard Sanders, former General Counsel of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, delivered a lecture on career planning for legal professionals in international organizations. During the lecture, he discussed the definition, types, membership, and objectives of international organizations. He also highlighted the importance of staff independence, the legal functions they perform, and the critical role of providing legal advice within these organizations. Mr. Sanders encouraged students interested in working for international organizations to learn about their missions, cultivate a passion for the specific fields they work in, and be ready to work in a multicultural environment.
