PKU LAW International Week 2023
Initiated in 2018, the PKU LAW International Week has become a signature program that each year showcases the vast opportunities the law school offers to our students for their international academic and career development.
The PKU LAW International Week 2023 consisted of a series of highly popular events at which students interact with academics, young professionals, and their peers to explore together prospects and challenges facing globalized lawyers of today.
　　
Sharing Experiences of Studying Overseas
　　
On November 2, 2023, a group of students coming back from semester exchanges and summer externships sharing their experiences with their peers, who are encouraged to take on the opportunities themselves.

Shattering the Glass Ceiling:  Women's Growth and Advancement in the Legal Profession
　　
On November , 2023, PKU LAW International Week set the stage for powerful female voices during the seminar "Women's Growth and Advancement in the Legal Profession." Four distinguished alumni, Zhang Lei (Class of 2004), Lin Yanhua(Class of 2005), Ye Mingxin(Class of 2005) , and Zhuang Tiantian (Class of 2006) shared their respective stories about how they navigated law school, planned for their careers, shattered the "glass ceiling" and becoming leaders of their own field.
Zhang Lei, whose journey transformed from law firm associate to CEO of a listed biotechnology company, challenged students to push boundaries. Lin Yanhua, partner of Fangda Law Firm, stressing the importance of self-discovery and resilience through her story of diverse internships and learning from failure, resonated with students seeking their own paths. Ye Mingxin, the founding partner of a childhood education institution, fueled by her passion for social justice, shared her impactful journey in labor law advocacy. Zhuang Tiantian, who is legal counsel at BMW China,  underscored the boundless opportunities found in stepping outside comfort zones.

Leading Law Firms Meet PKU Students
　　
 
　　
Partners and associates from several leading law firms, including Clifford Chance, Davis Polk, Fanda Parnters and Quinn Emanuel were invited to the law school and meet the students during the PKU LAW international week 2023. These info sessions offer students opportunities to interact with leading practitioners in person and learn about the cutting edge international practices of law in today’s world.

Pursuing Graduate Studies Overseas
　　
　　
On November 9, 2023, four faculty members held a special consultation session for students that are interested in pursuing graduate and advanced degrees in overseas jurisdictions. The professors, having earned their own advanced degrees from various renowned institutions in the US, UK, Germany, and Switzerland, shared with students their insights on the value of overseas education, the application strategies, and other relevant considerations when making decisions.

The Picture of a Leader
On November 6, 2023, PKU LAW School hosted a thought-provoking seminar on career development, featuring Ms. Hou Jin, Legal Counsel of Siemens Greater China and Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China.
Ms. Hou's lecture, titled "The Picture of a Leader," painted a vivid portrait of leadership qualities essential for outstanding legal professionals. She shared valuable insights on the key behaviors and mindsets that nurture leadership in legal professionals..

Rooting in China, Integrating the World
　　
On November 8, 2023, the Law School hosted a team of in-house lawyers from the China International Finance Corporation for a workshop that showcases the exciting world of legal careers in the financial powerhouse.
Zhou Jiaxing, Compliance Director and Head of Legal Compliance at the CICC, joined by his colleagues, discussed exciting personal journeys and dynamic practices in China’s leading and globalized investment bank. Intrigued students stayed long after the workshop finished to ask further questions to the lawyers.

Jones Day Lecture on International Legal Practice: How Can Foreign Investors Do Business in Germany
　　
　　
On November 10, 2023, the Law School hosted a Jones Day Lecture on International Legal Practiceon the topic of “How Can Foreign Investors Do Business in Germany.” The lecture were co-delivered by three senior partners from Jones Day’s German offices, Ansgar Rempp, Chen Zhaoxia, and Sandra-Christiane Kamper.
　　
 
Jones Day Lecture on International Legal Practice: US and EU Antitrust Laws
On November 17, 2023, the Law School hosted a second Jones Day Lecture on International Legal Practice, the topic of which was “A Case Study of the Latest Legal Industry and Enforcement Actions of US and EU Antitrust Laws."  The lecture was co-taught by senior Jones Day partners Ryan Thomas and Alexandre Verheyden.
