Alumnus Judge Gao Xiaoli Elected to the UN Appeals Tribunal

On November 15, 2022, the 77th United Nations General Assembly held elections for judges to sit on the United Nations Appeals Tribunal and Dispute Tribunal. Two Chinese judges were successfully elected and each will reside on one of the tribunals. That makes it the first time since the tribunal's establishment that both will have judges from China.
Upon the recommendation of the United Nations Internal Justice Council, Gao Xiaoli (LL.M'01), a judge of the Supreme People's Court of China and PKU Law alumnae, was elected to the United Nations Appeals Tribunal. Her term of office began on November 15, 2022, and will end on June 30, 2026.
Gao Xiaoli studied at PKU Law from 1998 to 2001, under the mentorship of Professor Wu Zhipan. Since July 1994, she has worked in the Economic Law Tribunal, the Fourth Tribunal for Civil Law Cases Tribunal, and the No.1 Circuit Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court.
