History and Development:
The clinical legal teaching course was initiated in October 2000. The internal impetus for the establishment of this course is the need of starting a practical
teaching course for cultivating legal talents in the new period, while the external background is where the ford foundation facilitates Chinese key law school by
offering clinical legal teaching course and activities funds, technology and concept. Peking University is one of the first of colleges chosen to set this course, seven
in all. The clinical legal teaching course in Peking University has been being carried out well and gets students’ commendations and warm welcomes, after the
primary establishment and development.

In 2007, 2 credits for the course has been transformed into 5, which includes 3 credits for elective courses and 2 for internship, and the

far, Peking University has established a standardized course, every semester, for more than 40 students.

In 2009, with the help and support of Ministry of Education and Beijing Education Committee and on the basis of years of operation pattern for this course
and its achievement, Law School, Lab, facility management department and Registry Department in Peking University are prepared to jointly build a base for
experimental legal teaching.

In May 2010, under multipartite promotion and intimate cooperation, Center for Clinical Legal Education of Peking University was formally established.
Henceforth, the clinical legal experimental teaching program, on a higher and broader platform, begin to strengthen its software and hardware construction,
develop varied clinical legal course in various areas and perfect the construction of practical teaching facilities such as moot court and working places.

In May 2011, Leo Koguan Building was put into use, so Center for Clinical Legal Education of Peking University, full of kinds of physical infrastructures,
had room for practical teaching, equipped with moot court, case office, and consulting rooms. And then, it started a road of connotative development
which is characterized by researching and exploring the teaching materials, exploratory course, the construction of information and standardized
management.

Up to the end of 2013, Center for Clinical Legal Education of Peking University has been for 27 semesters, where 800 students or so received
clinical legal education, about 700 in 800 students attended the training of legal action and about 90 in 800 students participated in national legislation
or drafting regulations and normative documents of social institutions for public service. Students who received clinical legal education have provided free
legal aid for about 10 thousand persons by in-persons, telephone and letter consulting. They handled 261 legal cases involving in contract disputes, house
ownership, marriage disputes, family property, inheritance, fostering kids, supporting the old, traffic accident, medical incident, consumer’s interest
protection, labor rights protection, farmer’s rights to land, administrative case and civil compensation execution and so on. Over 90% of them were successful.

by Uninsured Employers' Fund to Injured Workers, the System of Higher School, Interim Measures to Property Management of Urban Residence in Miyun County

There are widespread cooperation and communication resources in Center for Clinical Legal Education of Peking University which has established cooperation
with Law School of Yale University, Law School of Harvard University, Law Center of Georgetown University, Law School of Columbia University, Law School of New
York University and University of Oslo Law School. It also has communicated, for several times, with clinical legal education program of colleges in America, Canada,
Australia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Poland and Hungary and developed program cooperation with many foundations and international public legal organizations, Ford
Foundation as the typical example.
