Profile of Shinya Murase:

Born in Nagoya, Japan, in April, 1943. Professor Emeritus of Sophia (Jochi) University since 2014. Member of the Curatorium of the Hague Academy of International Law since 2004. Member of the UN International Law Commission since 2009 (Special Rapporteur on the “Protection of the Atmosphere” since 2013), and Associate Member of the Institute of International Law since 2011. Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) since 2013.
