Peking University Law School hires Prof. Shinya Murase, member of the United Nations International Law Commission, as Visiting Professor

On the afternoon of December 22, Prof. Zhang Shouwen, dean of Peking University Law School met with Prof. Shinya Murase, member of the United Nations International Law Commission, at the Courtyard of the Law School and presented a certificate of visiting Professor. Associate Prof. Chen Yifeng of Peking University Law School and Yao Yueming of External Affairs Office, attended the meeting.

 

Since November 2017, Peking University Law School has hired Prof. Shinya Murase to serve as a visiting professor and to open an English course in international law. Prof. Murase is a professor of international law at the Sophia University in Japan. He is also a member of the Institute of International Law and a member of the United Nations International Law Commission. He is also a special rapporteur on the topic of “atmosphere protection” of the International Law Commission and is recognized by the academic community as a well-known scholar of international law. According to the arrangement of visits, Prof. Murase will set up English courses such as "International Dispute Settlement" and "International Lawmaking".

 

First of all, Dean Zhang Shouwen expressed his warm welcome to Prof. Murase. He invited Prof. Murase to actively participate in the academic activities of the law school and expressed his concern in the work and life of Prof. Murase.

 

Prof. Murase expressed his gratitude to the Peking University Law School for the invitation. In the past two months, he opened an English course on "International Dispute Settlement". He pointed out that the students of Peking University Law School are very good and the exchanges in class are very enthusiastic. The abundant academic resources and good research conditions of Peking University have provided him with good research facilities. During his visit to Peking University, he has successfully completed the fifth special report of the United Nations International Law Commission on the protection of the atmosphere.

 

Subsequently, Dean Zhang Shouwen gave a letter of appointment to Prof. Murase as a visiting professor of Peking University Law School. Prof. Murase gladly accepted the offer and took a photo with him.
