From 09: 00-12: 00 on September 19th, 2022, the 72nd Peking University Social Law Forum Series Lecture and the third Peking University Social Law Frontier Forum, "Reflection and Reconstruction: The Essence, Attribute and Disciplinary System of Social Law", were successfully held in Law Library of Peking University. The lecture was moderated by Professor Ye Jingyi, Director of the Institute of Labour and Social Security Law, Peking University, delivered by Dr. Yu Shaoxiang, Chief Researcher of the "Innovation Project" of the Institute of Social Development Strategy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and evaluated by Associate Professor Jin Jinping, Director of the Center for Non-Profit Organization Law Research and Deputy Director of the Institute of Labour and Social Security Law, Peking University. The lecture is part of the Law School graduate course "Social Law Topics" in the fall semester of 2022.

At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Yu Shaoxiang revealed the intention of the topic, that is, to review the current definition of social law and the reasons for its emergence, to clarify the nature and attribute of social law, and to construct the disciplinary system of social law.

After raising the existing problems, Dr. Yu Shaoxiang analyzes the reasons for the status quo from two dimensions: disciplinary division and historical evolution.

Finally, Dr. Yu Shaoxiang concluded that there are many points to be clarified in the general, which should be explored by generations of researchers, with a view to providing enough theoretical support for the ongoing legislative practice.

In the evaluation segment, Prof. Ye Jingyi felt that Dr. Yu Shaoxiang has constantly enriched his material and thinking, and his articles are of considerable weight in the field of social law theory. She also thanked Dr. Yu Shaoxiang for sharing the latest achievements on the basic theory of social law with the students in conjunction with her own research. Prof. Ye encouraged the students to learn from Dr. Yu's spirit of reading widely and deeply, to incorporate their own academic thinking in the process of reading, and to write good essays with sufficient quotations and evidence.

Associated Professor Jin Jinping also emphasized the importance of sufficient research before writing papers, reminding students that they should know the current research situation. In her opinion, Dr. Yu Shaoxiang's systematic research is valuable in retrospect of the connotation of words in the history of social law research.

At the end of the lecture, the teachers and students present took a photo with Dr. Yu Shaoxiang. Through this lecture, the students have a more comprehensive understanding of the essence, attribute and subject system of social law.

This series of lecture is sponsored by the Dow Ann Law Foundation of Peking University.
