PKU Law International Day 2017 was held successfully

On October 20, 2017, the first PKU Law International Day was held successfully in KoGuan Building and Chenming Building of PKU Law School.
Dean Zhang Shouwen, Vice Dean Wang Xixin of PKU Law School, 46 guests from 28 partner Law Schools had attended this event, including the Deans, Admission Directors, Law Professors and alumni representatives.
There were many activities during this event, such as Law Schools Stall Consulting, Law Schools One-hour Individual Presentation, Face-to-Face with Admission Director, with 10 venues. Conference Hall of KoGuan Building was the main venue, in which 28 world-famous law schools set consulting stalls the whole day, providing one-to-one consultation service to students. In other venues, partner law schools made the individual presentations and introduced their programs, offering students a broader view of law education in the world.
During 9:00-9:30, the opening ceremony of PKU Law International Day 2017 was held in Conference Hall, Koguan Building. Firstly, Vice Dean Wang Xixin extended warm welcome and sincere thanks to the guests on behalf of PKU Law School. He noted that PKU Law International Day was held for the 120th anniversary of PKU, in order to provide wider access and more opportunities to students and promote the communication between PKU Law School and the world. After that, Dean Zhang Shouwen gave the welcoming remarks to all the attendees, wishing PKU Law International Day 2017 a complete success and hoping that the students attending the activities could know more about foreign law schools and make appropriate arrangement for their overseas study.
During 9:30-11:50, Dean Zhang Shouwen met the Deans, Vice Deans and Assistant Deans from 7 partner law schools, including Waseda University, Faculty of Law, The University of Tokyo, Law School, The University of Sidney, Law School, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law, Loyola Law School Los Angeles and Uppsala University, Faculty of Law. Dean Zhang Shouwen introduced the history and development of PKU Law School and hoped that the cooperation between PKU Law School and its partners could be strengthened and deepened in terms of student exchange program, LL.M program and professor visiting. Moreover, during the meeting, Uppsala University, Faculty of Law signed the Memorandum of Understanding with PKU Law School, hoping that the two law schools could establish the long-term partnership.
At the same time, the one-hour individual presentations of 7 law schools were held in the venues of KoGuan Building, including Waseda University, Faculty of Law, Sciences Po University Law School, Queen Mary University of London, Law School, The University of Adelaide, Law School, University of Pennsylvania Law School, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and The University of Tokyo, Law School. The representatives of the 7 law schools made detailed introduction to their courses, LL.M programs, J.D. programs and other distinctive programs, presenting the attractive aspects of their law schools. Notably, the professor from University of Pennsylvania Law School communicated with students through the SKYPE, introducing to students the prolong history and attractive courses of University of Pennsylvania Law School. The creative form of remote video has won high praise from the students.
12:00-13:00, Face-to-Face with Director of Admission was held in Room 307 of KoGuan Building in a lively atmosphere. Admission Directors from Leiden University Law School, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law and Queen Mary University of London, Law School delivered separate presentations, giving students holistic and comprehensive advice on application, such as the way to write the recommendation letter, the access to the scholarship and the requirements of GPA. During the meeting, students raised questions actively and got constructive and satisfying answers.
13:00-15:00, 13 celebrated law schools, including The National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law, The University of Sidney, Law School, University of Luxembourg, Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, King's College London, The Dickson Poon School of Law, University of Michigan, Law School, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law, Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, Loyola Law School Los Angeles, Leiden University Law School and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Law, gave presentations separately in the sections of KoGuan Building and Chenming Building, attracting many students from PKU Law School. Admission Directors combined presentation and discussion, introducing their law schools to students from a global perspective. Law schools were shown to students in all aspects, including infrastructure, faculty, academic development, international cooperation and so on. The students participating in the activities listened to the presentations carefully and raised individualized questions, making the PKU Law International Day 2017 reach a climax. The One-hour Individual Presentations has well established a platform for the deep communication between PKU Law School students and famous law schools home and abroad. The students who desire studying abroad has been provided with high-quality consultation service.
As an activity celebrating the 120th anniversary of PKU, PKU Law International Day 2017 has strengthened the connection between PKU Law Schools and the attended law schools around the world, created a new mode of the interaction between law schools, established a platform for the communication between famous law schools and PKU Law School students, provided rich opportunities for students to gain application information, and has strengthened the international competitiveness and influence of PKU Law School. At the starting point of the construction of the “world-class universities and first-class disciplines”, PKU Law School will continue to widen and deepen the cooperation between famous law schools in the world and make contribution to the academic development of law science.
