On the morning of October 11, 2017, Hao Ping, the secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, visited the Law School. Accompanied byGong Wendong (the director of the Party Committee and President Office)，Zhang Shouwen (the dean of Law School) and Pan Jianfeng (the secretary of the party Committee of Law Schooland deputy dean of Law School), Yang Xiaolei(the deputy dean of Law School), andXue Jun (the deputy dean of Law School), Haofirstly visited the Law Pillar Square, the courtyard and the history museum of Law School.

Subsequently, Haowith other relative leaders of Law School took a forum, including Yu Hongjun (the deputy executive secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University),Gao Song、Gong Qihuang&Chen Baojian (the vice presidents).Zhang Pingwen (the director of the Discipline Construction Office), Gong Wendong (the director of the Party Committee and president office), Liu Bo (the director of the Ministry of Personnel), Zhang Xinxiang (the director of the Ministry of Finance), Xia Hongwei (the director of the Ministry of International Cooperation), Yin Xuesong (the director of the Ministry of Real Estate Management)and Ren Yuzhong (the director of the Policy and Law Research Office and the Party Committee Policy Research Office) are alsoinvolved in the forum.

As the spokesman of the forum, Pan Jianfeng (the secretary of the party Committee of Law School and deputy dean of Law School) segmented the performance of the Party Committee into four perspectives. Those were - the basic situation、the working mechanism、the implementation of the central requirements and the sprits、difficulties and challenges of the series of Xi Jinping Speeches. He presented thatourLaw Schoolwere always combiningthe affairs of thepolitical and thePartywith actual conditions of the college and focusing on key issues.What’s more, the Law School had fully cooperated with the Party Committee aiming at carrying out relative business via joint efforts.

Soon afterwards, Zhang Shouwen (the dean of Law School) introducedthe current situation of the“Double First-rate” construction from two aspects—the basic situation and the future focus. He said that, as one of the pioneers who leads Chinese legal education and discipline construction,Peking University Law Schoolhad already completed degree training systems and a group of high-quality teachers, also in recent years,those projects like academic research, international cooperation and exchange allhad made great progress. Law Schoolwas supposedto firmly graspingtherare opportunity of Peking University's step of "Double First-rate" construction, facing up to the long-term future, focusing on the core mission, exploring the cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and cultivating new academic growth points. Beyond those above, Zhang stressed that personnel training wasthe top priority of the double top construction, Law School should promote the curriculum construction and teaching materials system furtherly, improve a series of practical education initiatives, and devote major efforts to cultivate talents, who were expected toserve the near future.

As the next schedule, Yang Xiaolei (the deputy dean of Law School)made a detailed report on the main issues of current training and theurgent requirement for developments of professional masters.

The leaders and directors then had a heated discussion on the subject construction, international cooperation, comprehensive reform and other issues. All of them stated that they would strongly support the "Double First-rate" construction of the Law Schoolall the time.

On the final schedule of the trip, Hao Pingmade a conclusion that the Party Committeeand the Administrative Departments of Peking University should attach great importance to Law School. He stressed that the central filenumbered 31 and the spiritof Xi’s “5·3” speech raised the earnest expectation for talents specialized in law. In addition,Law School should continue to adhere moraleducation as a basic,regard double top construction as an important breakthroughpoint, and promote education and teaching reforms, play a full role asa benchmarking in the national strategic needs, professional development trends, academic potentials andthe developments of the Law in China. In a word, PKU would go a step further of supporting the Law School’s continuous development and progress.
