Law School 2017 Mainland-Hong Kong youth Legal Leaders Exchange Camp series was successfully held

March 6 to 10, 2017 Mainland-Hong Kong youth legal leaders exchange camp series of activities was successfully held. Director of Hong Kong and Macao Research Center, Director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Legal Research Center, Member of Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the National People's Congress Rao Geping, Peking University Assistant Professor Peng Chun and Yan Tian, Postdoctoral research fellow Zuo Yilu attended relevant activities of this camp. Communist Youth League Committee of Peking University Law School Secretary Shi Shi and Deputy Secretary Fu Chengyu attended the opening ceremony of the exchange camp. Assistant Secretary Liu Ji, Student Media Center Chen Zixian and Xiong Jinyan were the leader of the exchange camp. A total of 35 students from the University of Hong Kong and Peking University Law School participated in the camp.

At 7:30 on the evening of the 6th, 35 campers carried out ice breaking activities at the Koguan Building Law Student Club. Peking University Law School expressed warm and sincere welcome to 23 campers who were from HKU. Through self-introduction and ice-breaking games, both sides of the campers deepened the understanding of each other.


At 9:00 on the 7th, the opening ceremony of the exchange camp was successfully held in the conference room 303, Koguan Building. After playing the propaganda, Secretary Shi Shi first expressed his warm welcome to the students of HKU and hoped that the students of the two schools would be able to increase their understanding in face-to-face communication. And then, he introduced the Peking University Law School and the arrangement of the exchange camp.

At 1:00pm on the 7th, the exchange camp organized the campers visited the National Museum, they had an overview of the “World History of 100 Artifacts in the British Museum” and appreciated the “Louvre Imagination”.

At 9:00 am on the 8th, "Mainland-Hong Kong Youth Law Leaders Exchange Camp series of lectures: China and Hong Kong" was successfully held in room 307, Koguan Building. The lecturer was Peng Chun and the topic was related to the relationship between Mainland and Hong Kong. Students from two schools discussed warmly and deepened their understanding of the basic national policy, “one country, two systems”.

At 2:00pm, “NPC’s interpretation of the Basic Law and National Governance of Hong Kong” was successfully held. Prof. Rao Geping pointed out the content and influence of the NPC’s interpretation of the Basic Law, he also stressed the need for unswerving, comprehensive and accurate implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy.



On the same day, the exchange camp organized all the camp staff to watch the concert performed by Zhejiang Conservatory of Music National Orchestra, to experience the campus life and enjoy the elegant art.

At 8:30am on the 9th, the campers visited the top domestic and international well-known King &Wood Mallesons. Through the conversation with the lawyers, the students knew more about the mainland's top legal professional groups of practice and work atmospher. After leaving the firm, the students visited the Yuanmingyuan Park, which left an unforgettable memories to them.



At 10:00am on the 10th, the exchange camp Sharon was held in the Room 307, Koguan Building. Prof. Yan Tian and prof. Zuo Yilu discuss the rule of law in china through question and answer. Two of the professors explained their own analysis of the prospect of constitutional review and the understanding of the concept of the rule of law in China, and answered the questions about the current situation of China's judiciary raised by the students from HKU.



At 6:30pm, the exchange camp closing and summing-up ceremony was held in the law student club. The students of the two colleges put forward their opinions and suggestions on the activities of the exchange camp in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, and they said that the three series of lectures inspired and benefited themselves.

In the morning of November 11, Hong Kong’s campers, with the assistance of the staff of the exchange camp, handled the check-out procedures, and then returned to Hong Kong. At that moment, this event completely succeeded.

Based on the successful experience of the "one country, two systems" legal exchange camp, the Mainland-Hong Kong Youth Legal Leaders Camp organized outstanding academic students from Hong Kong and the mainland to conduct academic lectures, visit and learn, communication discussion, exchange seminars and other activities. Besides, it also established a good platform for mutual understanding and emotional exchange between the students. This event has a profound impact.
