The 51st Lecture of Comparative Law and Sociology of Law Held Successfully

On Nov 25th, 2015, the 51st Lecture of Comparative Law and Sociology of Lawwas held successfully in Koguan Building of Peking University Law School. Nicholas Morris, Professor of Balliol College of University of Oxford, was invited to deliver the speech themed “The Function of Global System of Law and Regulation in Building Reliable Behavior”. Included in 2015 Fall Semester class “Comparative Law Research” of PKULS, the lecture was organized by comparative law and sociology of law research institution. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhang Qi, the Executive Dean of comparative law and sociology of law research institution.


The lecture was divided into two parts: subject-matter report and Q&A. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Morris made a point that reliable behavior plays an important role in social, political and economic communications. System of legal and regulation enhances the credibility of behavior. In Q&A section, audience communicated with Professor Morris with regard to the relations between Confucianism and Capitalism, the relations between morality and economic development and other related questions.

The lecture ended in heated discussions between Professor Morris and students.
