Sean Cooney, Expert of International Labour Organization, Visited Law School

On March 25th, Sean Cooney, expert of International Labour Organization and Department of Labor Law Reform, visited PKULS. Professor Ye Jingyi, Lecturer Chen Yifeng and Postdoctor Yan Tian met the visitors in Room 602 in Chen Ming Building.

 

As a professor of the University of Melbourne Law School, Mr. Sean Cooney, has made many achievements in the field of Labor Law and Trade Law. He has been focusing on the study of Chinese law for a long time and recently got his book Law and Fair Work in China world published by Routledge, which is a world-famous academic publisher. He introduced his work experience in ILO, especially his push for Labor Law reform, emphasized on the importance of China’s Labor Law reform, and expressed the wish for cooperation between ILO and PKULS.

 

Then, Professor Ye Jingyi welcomed the experts of ILO, thanked them for their help and looked back over the cooperation between ILO and PKULS. She also expressed the wish for more communication and cooperation. Finally, they had a heated discussion on issues such as the necessity of standard Labor Law, legal status of domestic workers and the labor law with Chinese characteristics and achieved consensus on further cooperation.
