On the morning of November 6, 2019, Professor Theodore Ruger, Dean of Pennsylvania University Law School, Ms. Elise Luce Kraemer, Executive Director of the Graduate Program, and Mr. Ni Xudong, Head of the Chinese Alumni Association of Peking University Law School, visited our school. Professor Pan Jianfeng, Dean of Peking University Law School, Professor Guo Li, Party Secretary of Peking University Law School, Professor Wang Lei, Assistant Dean, and Dr. Li Yuanyuan, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Peking University Law School received the visitors warmly. Then, the two parties held friendly talks on how to deepen exchanges and cooperation.

First of all, Dean Pan Jianfeng extended a warm welcome to the visitors on behalf of Peking University Law School. Dean Pan said that the cooperation between the two schools has a long history and has achieved very good results. Pennsylvania University Law School is an old friend of Peking University Law School. The two schools have been working together to promote exchanges between teachers and students. At the same time, he hoped that the two parties can carry out further cooperation, including undergraduate student exchange programs.

Theodore Ruger agreed with Dean Pan's proposal. He hoped to work more closely with Peking University Law School on student exchanges, faculty visits, and collaborative research, and also to continue working on the "4 + 1" degree program for undergraduates. Theodore Ruger has been in close contact with Peking University Law School since he was dean of Pennsylvania University Law School in 2015. He is looking forward to more opportunities for teachers and students to participate in academic exchanges with Peking University.

During the talks, the two parties held heated discussions on the frontiers of Internet courts, artificial intelligence and law, environmental medicine and law, and hoped that in the course of promoting the partnership, teachers and students can further explore and study the relevant issues.

The visit deepened the cooperation between the two institutes in academic exchanges, teaching and scientific research, personnel training, and played a positive role in promoting friendly cooperation, resource sharing, complementary advantages and common development in the future.
