Chinese Law Students Visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On April 18th, 2014, under the guidance of Ms. Zhao Xue from the Law School of Peking University, the students of LL.M. Program, Short-term Program and Exchange Programs visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held interchange activity with the Department of Treaty and Law.

The students first audited the regular press conference, in which the spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs replied to questions regarding to the newest international affairs, including but not limited to the shipwreck in Korea, Japan's attitude towards the South Sea, President Obama's visit to Asia and so on.

Later, Deputy Director-General Ms. Chen Peijie led young officers from the Department of Treaty and Law to communicate with the students. Ms. Chen introduced the general diplomacy policy and idea of China, the structure and main responsibilities of the Department of Treaty and Law, and more details on the legal field of foreign affairs. Students asked questions they were interested in, and interacted with Ms. Chen and other officers. Before the seminar, the students viewed a moot treaty signing ceremony.

Before the end of the event, Ms. Chen gave valuable books as presents to PKU Law, and Ms. Zhao expressed sincere thankfulness on behalf of our Law School, and gave PKU Law souvenirs in return. At last, the visiting team took group pictures with the panel. Overall, the students thought highly of the experience and looked forward to another one. Officers from the Department of Treaty and Law also warmly welcomed our students to come to visit again.
